Health Tips
Food as your Medicine:
Growing up as a small child in the 50's our family of 7 had very few luxuries. If we wanted to go sledding we would get cardboard from the dumpster of the drapery rod plant, to play marbles we would go to the local service station and collect their old bearings to pry open for the ball bearings inside. Unless "Santa" brought us new socks, mittens, or a shirt, well we normally would just reuse what clothes our friends, neighbors and older siblings had grown out of.
The one thing that was in plentiful supply at our house was fresh food, and lots of it. My parents understood that fresh fruits and vegetables were the cheapest health insurance money could buy. I can remember the very few times any of us had a cold or fever the first question out of my father's mouth was "okay what kind of junk have you been eating?" He knew that what we ate is what kept us healthy, in other words Food was our Medicine.
Our doctor visits were only for physicals, broken bones from football or stitches from falling through glass doors but never for other illness's because the quality of food we ate is what kept us in top form.
As amazing as our bodies are, they can only function on wholesome unprocessed food. Eating processed, packaged and chemically enhanced products is similar to putting diesel fuel in a gas engine, you just are not going to go very far until major problems develop.
Choose what goes into your bodies wisely and truly let your food be your Medicine.
