What we do

There are over 70,000 vacant lots here in the city of Chicago. We are committed to transforming thousands of these plots into oases of locally grown, fresh produce while providing entrepreneurial opportunities and learning challenges for our youth.
Through the use of intensive production methods, a ½ acre plot is capable of producing up to $30,000 in gross sales of fresh produce per year.

We place a strong focus on food desert districts. Food deserts are geographic areas with little or no access to foods needed to maintain a healthy diet. Our youth have the opportunity to participate in growing and providing locally grown, fresh produce directly to the community. Marketing opportunities include selling door to door, restaurants and café's, as well as local grocery stores. We want to strengthen our communities through the promotion of business development and entrepreneurial ownership. This training takes place during single semester and yearlong programs, after-school workshops, and intensive camps for high school, and young adult students. This model can be duplicated throughout other inner city communities nationwide, providing even greater opportunities.
